Welcome to the Salmon River Fire Brigade (Colchester, N.S) home page!

The Salmon River Fire Brigade members have been proudly providing Fire / Emergency protection to the residents of Salmon River and District for the past 50 years. Organized on February 1961, makes 2011 the 50th anniversary of this 100% volunteer organization that responds to the communities of Salmon River, Valley, Murray siding, Greenfield, Harmony, Camden and Lower harmony. Also with mutual aid calls to Truro, Bible Hill, Valley-Kemptown, Hilden and other areas in Colchester County.

The Brigade is made up of 37 full members, 3 junior members and 41 honorary members, 3 of which were founding charter members. See the Officers and members section for more details.

In 2010 the Brigade answered 63 emergency callsĀ totalingĀ over 2000 hours volunteered to Train and respond to all types of incidents including: Motor Vehicle accidents, Medical assists, Structure Fires, Flooding, Forest Fires, water rescue and many other types of emergencies. While responding to emergencies is the primary purpose of the Brigade it also has other sides that are very community minded with their very active Fire prevention program led by the 1st Deputy Chief and his committee. The members are also very involved in many sports events such as CFFA and MFFA darts, ball, curling. bowling and golf. There are also many other events going on at the Fire hall such as card parties, Seniors dances, caterings, local area fund raisers, 50th anniversary celebration dances and many other activities.
